Wear Your Fruits, Eat Your Colors

Wear Your Fruits, Eat Your Colors

We often start from the outside to try to make change on the inside. Let’s scratch that. It’s time to start from within. If you feel good on the inside it will radiate to the outside. It is important that we prioritize ourselves and take care of our bodies. This looks different for everyone. Self-care can consist of anything from exercise, journaling, meditating, or simply giving yourself time to decompress. Setting any time aside in your routine to do something for your mind, body, or soul can help create happiness from within. Trust us, we know life isn’t easy and we all battle with something. Sabrina has gone through her own challenges as well.  From a story with Health Central by Lene Andersen, Sabrina touches on her battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

“I have been living with arthritis all my life. At the age of 6, I was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) while I was living as a refugee with my sister, brother, and father in Pakistan…When you’re in the same position for a long period of time, it is painful for arthritis. I couldn’t go to the bathroom. I couldn’t get up. I was handicapped. I was literally carried from one corner of the house to the other corner of the house”

“In the U.S., I was given a second chance. I got the healthcare that I needed so I was able to do anything I wanted to do. Yes, I have to work a little bit harder and make exceptions when my RA interferes. But I don’t think arthritis is something that holds you back; I think of it as an opportunity”

My mind is very strong. Usually, I push myself until my body is physically unable to grab the scissors and cut or move. But once my mind crashes, I know that I’ve overused my body. That’s what happened on Project Runway.”

It’s hard to manage health, work, and lifestyle. Life is all about the journey and it sure is difficult. You must find something that helps you. We have a recipe that we hope could help anyone suffering with an autoimmune disorder. Here is our 5-minute anti-inflammatory smoothie recipe.

Sea Salt Orange
Pinch of Himalayan Pink Sea Salt
10 basil leaves
¼ cup pineapple
½ cup frozen berries
1 apple
1 orange
1 banana
½-1 cup almond milk
Honey for preference

Each ingredient in this recipe serves a purpose and together beautifully creates a nutrient packed smoothie. The Himalayan Pink salt and the orange are the stars. Oranges are packed with anti-inflammatory properties and help build immunity. Some are surprised with incorporating the touch of salt. But, Himalayan pink sea salt can help reduce joint inflammation and also reduce any associated stiffness or pain. The blend of berries we use consists of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. These berries are full of antioxidants and vitamins. They help regulate the immune system and can reduce chronic inflammation. Berries are another key ingredient! Aside from the anti-inflammatory benefits, this smoothie is good for everyone looking to detox their body.

We hope our secret recipe can be your secret to living life, fashionably, from the inside out. Fashion is about what you look like on the inside too. Let this serve as a reminder to take care of yourself. Learn to embrace solitude and allow yourself to be mindful of your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about yourself.  My body is my body. We only have one, so let’s treat it that way.

Buen appetite!

Sincerely,
